Description

The chestnut-beating tool is a wooden implement consisting of a roughly square-shaped board, carved to a diamond point and fitted with a handle. It was used in chestnut harvesting, particularly for beating chestnuts. Chestnuts were spread out on a surface and beaten with the tool to separate the edible part from the skin. This tool was used during the chestnut harvesting period and was mainly used to facilitate the preservation of the fruit. Woodworking to obtain the tool required craftsmanship, and it was a tradition related to the rural practices of the community.
