This site is dedicated to the discovery of the Sanagra Valley, an area rich in nature, history and traditions.
You may have heard it called "Val Senagra," but the correct form is really Val Sanagra.
The most authoritative historical sources testify to this: from the observations of the naturalist Domenico Vandelli in the 18th century to the papers of the geographer Charles Amoretti, going through the first official maps of the territory.
Over time, this toponymic misunderstanding has generated confusion, even in administrative acts and tourist publications. Yet, using the right name is important: it preserves the historical memory, strengthens the identity of the place and restores dignity to the cultural heritage of the valley.
But where did the name "Sanagra" come from? And why has it been mispronounced over time?
Find out in the in-depth study.
