Description

The tong was an essential tool in the blacksmith's forge, used to grasp pieces of metal for heating in the fire. The tong, composed of two movable arms, was used to grip hot metal and move it around during the forging process. The long handle allowed the blacksmith to keep a distance from the heat, while the short ends gripped the workpiece.
