Description

The hoe, used for tilling the fields, was an agricultural tool with a cutting plate of various shapes (oval, round, trapezoidal) ending in a point. The upper end was pierced for the engagement of the handle, which was missing. The handle, held with two hands, was knocked down on the ground to dislodge it. Forged by artisan blacksmiths, it was made of iron, produced in the Como area according to oral tradition and the forging/beating technique, and used in agro-sylvo-pastoral activities.
