Description

The grater was used in the kitchen to grate foods such as bread, cheese, and other substances. On top of it, ingredients were rubbed into small flakes or powder. Often, the grater was accompanied by a small container, which was useful for collecting the grated substance and preventing it from being dispersed. This utensil was essential in everyday kitchen preparations to enrich dishes with grated ingredients, as in the case of cheese for pasta or bread for breadcrumbs.
