The butter knife was used for finishing the shaping of butter loaves and imprinting decorative patterns. When making butter in the casera, the butter was kneaded by hand or with the help of the spatula, which was gripped by the handle and slid in top-to-bottom motions so that the butter took on a regular, decorative shape. This tool was essential to give the butter a finished and pleasing appearance, ready to be stored or sold.
Butter knife, geometric, decorative function, made with carving.
