The tool, used to cause a screeching noise, was employed by children as a game to create loud and distinctive sounds. It was a typical object of Holy Week, used to enliven celebrations and folk traditions.
The wooden board was grasped with the hand, and the iron part was shaken left and right in such a way that it moved and produced noise.
