Description

Ectocentrites is, together with the genus Coroniceras, one of the few ammonites found in the Osteno deposit. This species, along with the genera Ectocentrites and Sulciferites, allowed the Osteno rocks to be attributed to the Lower Jurassic, particularly the Bucklandi zone of the Lower Sinemurian

Preserved specimen

The specimen includes the impression only; however, the reducing conditions of the bottom have dissolved the limestone part resulting in the loss of the ornamentation.
