Description

These mollusks inhabited the shallows of an ancient tropical sea; the curious heart or horseshoe shape derived from the section of the two shells had led people to mistake these fossils for traces left by herds of horses or even the devil.
This belief, still widespread today, is circulated in all the villages of Tremezzina, from Griante to Tremezzo. In these areas, in addition to Megalodon, Conchodon, which is larger in size than Megalodon, is also found.
