Description

Otozamites is a taxon extinct of the order of the bennettitales, with a wide distribution during the Mesozoic, especially in China. So far, 46 species of this genus have been described in China, excluding unidentified species.
The results show that Otozamites fossils are widely recorded in the Late Triassic, and then reach their maximum development in the Jurassic, followed by a reduction in diversity in the Middle and Late Jurassic, and, finally, become extinct at the end of the Lower Cretaceous.

Preserved specimen

The specimen is preserved in every part, with special reference to the stem and leaves. The fossil is a charcoal patina deposited on the Osteno calcilutite.
