Description

The sponderuola was used to make frames and shaped edges in wood. Gripped with one hand, it was slid along the side of a board, pushing forward in a smooth motion to shape and finish the wood. This tool was essential in carpentry work, used to achieve precise, finished edges. In the carpenter's workshop, the hand planer was one of the most common tools, indispensable for making furniture and other wooden objects.
