The "Day of the Saint"

Ancient tradition of the communities of Grandola ed Uniti and Bene Lario going in procession to the Holy Trinity Church every Angel Monday. Failure to observe the custom meant the loss of the right to celebrate mass.

At Holy Trinity Church is linked to an ancient tradition involving the villages of Grandola ed Uniti and Bene Lario.
Every Angel Monday, the citizens of the two villages had to go to the church in procession in order to have the right to celebrate mass: if either of them missed the appointment, they would immediately lose that right. It was the tradition of the "Say of the Holy", and was a strong draw for the population. The route started from the parish church of Codogna and followed a long path through the surrounding fields, which still exists today and is in good condition. At some point, the tradition was interrupted: on one occasion, the citizens of Grandola missed the appointment, and thus lost the right to celebrate the mass of the"Saint's Day".
