The legend of the "Stria de Mugn"

The legend of the stria de la Ciapp de Mugn tells of a witch who roamed the rooftops near Croce di Menaggio at night to kidnap disobedient children. A folk tale used to scare and warn the little ones, similar to those of the "babau" or the "bogeyman."

It is an ancient story, similar to the classic stories of the "babau" and the "bogeyman," which was told to the village children.
The story features a stripe, "witch" in the local dialect, an inhabitant of the locality Ciapp de Mugn, or the "ravine of Mugn", an area located not far from the town of Croce di Menaggio. The witch roamed the rooftops of the village at night, and if she met a disobedient child, she would kidnap him and take him to her lair.
