Located in the locality of "La Comuna," above the hamlet of Naggio, the Chapel of St. Roch was erected in the mid-19th century during the cholera epidemics that afflicted the Peninsula and Europe beginning in 1830. The plaque bears the inscription, "The people of Naggio in the cholera of the year 1855 erected this Oratory out of devotion."
Inside, the statue of St. Roch, protector from plagues, follows the traditional iconography: the saint is depicted in the act of discovering the plague boil, with a pilgrim's staff, gourd water bottle and bread pouch. At his feet, a dog holds in its mouth a piece of bread, freshly stolen to feed the sick.
