Description

The hammer was mainly used for nailing and working with metal. With the right hand, one gripped the handle and impressed firm blows on the nail or metal to be shaped. The object was essential in the blacksmith's and even the carpenter's workshop, where it was used for various purposes of forging and shaping iron.
