Description

Neuropteris is a seed-producing pteridosperm.

The plant, which is currently extinct, has been reconstructed on the basis of the Carboniferous fossil record.

This is a fairly common bituminous coal fossil with Alethopteris and similar ferns, particularly in the Carboniferous of Pennsylvanian.

Fossil specimens very similar to those found in the Sanagra Valley come from the famous Mazon Creekin Illinois deposit.
