Description

Palaeospinax is an extinct genus of shark that lived from the Triassic to the end of the Eocene.
Although some species have been described, the genus is considered to be nomen dubium Because of the exemplary type of the type species.

Preserved specimen

The specimen is represented by a single shark tooth belonging to a species identified on the basis of the findings in Osteno.
The tooth, 12 mm long and 10 mm wide, clearly shows the distinction between enamel and dentin; the channels for the passage of blood vessels and nerves are also evident.
