Located in the hamlet of Cardano, the Chapel of the Three Kings Is linked to an ancient legend.
In the Middle Ages, the relics of the Magi were kept in the church of Sant'Eustorgio in Milan until 1162, when, after the destruction of the basilica by Frederick Barbarossa, they were taken away by the archbishop of Cologne, Rainald of Dassel, and transported to Germany.
During the long journey, the procession made several stops at places called "Alberghi" or "Ospitali," often commemorated by churches and chapels. The structure of the building and the name by which some elders refer to it, "Pusà" (meaning rest), suggest that Cardano's chapel was once a resting place for travelers, shaded by cypress trees.
The building was built by the Guaita family, as evidenced by two valuable canvases inside: a Madonna Assumption into Heaven and an Adoration of the Magi, both depicting donors, belonging to the same family.
