Located between the hamlets of Velzo e Codogna, the Church of Sts. Syrus and Margaret stands on a panoramic rise with views of the Menaggio Valley, Lake Como and the Lecco Orobie Mountains.
The year of its foundation is uncertain, but it has been documented as a parish since 1487. In the parish archives there are traces of another church dedicated to San Siro, used on feast days by a canon from Menaggio. In the 17th century, Emperor Leopold of Habsburg financed the restoration of the church, probably as a vow related to its healing, as also suggested by the legend of the Sanagra River, known for its "healing" waters.
The present structure is Baroque in style, the result of 17th-century renovations, with the new consecration taking place in 1637. However, the side walls retain traces of its older origins. The bell tower, restored in the late 1990s, has a characteristic gray-pink coloring.
