Mountains of Mothers

Located on the slopes of Mt. Grona, the resort Mothers is located about halfway down the valley and is characterized by the presence of numerous alpine huts, cabins and buildings, now largely abandoned. It was once a stopping point along the transhumance route.

The place-name "Madri" and a mysterious enclosure of cyclopean boulders suggested the hypothesis that the area was an ancient place of worship, perhaps dedicated to the Goddess Mater.
