Varoo Alp

L'Varoo Alp (also called Alpe Varò) is located in the heart of the Varoo Valley of the same name, a tributary of the Sanagra stream, which descends from the slopes of Mt. Grona.

This former alpine pasture, owned by the municipality of Plesio, consists of a group of huts nestled in a very picturesque green corner, surrounded by dense forests of beech and silver fir. After careful restoration, the Alpe has been transformed into a accommodation.

Alpe Varoo can be reached starting from the municipality of Plesio [see route on Wikiloc] or from the paved road to Alpe Erba, following the Path 29 [download trail map].

The Alp is also crossed by the First Stage of the 4 Valleys Trail, which leads from Breglia to Malé [see route on valcavargna.org].
A now defunct route upstream from the alpine pasture allowed people to reach the saddle of Sant'Amate.
