The Song Thrush is a bird of the Turdidae family, morphologically very similar to the Song Thrush, from which it is distinguished mainly by its larger size and white underwing, in contrast to the cinnamon color of the Song Thrush. It has a length of about 26-29 cm and a wingspan between 42 and 48 cm. The plumage has a light brown back and a tail of the same color, while the flanks and chest are light, almost white, characterized by the classic black dots typical of thrushes, which extend over the chest and belly.
The tordela is widespread throughout much of Asia, Europe and North Africa, and its preferred habitat is sparse deciduous and coniferous forests. During winter it moves to more open environments, such as meadows, cultivated fields and forest edges. In Italy it is present as a breeding species during the summer season in several regions, while in winter it migrates to areas with a milder climate. It feeds mainly on insects, earthworms, berries and fruits, adapting its diet to available resources according to the season.
The specimen in question is taxidermied with the wings closed on a rigid wooden stand. Good state of preservation.
