Piamuro - Galbiati Tower - Tobi Bridge

This trail allows you to explore an attractive section of the Sanagra Valley, passing through forests, scenic glades, waterfalls and ancient artifacts. It can be approached in two ways: as a linear route, from Piamuro to Tobi Bridge, or as a loop, returning through the historic center of Cardano. Ideal for those seeking an experience in contact with nature and local history, the route offers spectacular views and moments of authentic quiet, with wilder stretches that require attention but pay off with all the unspoiled beauty of the valley.

The route can also be traveled in reverse using the entrance to the historic center of Cardano.

Stages

1. From Piamuro continue straight along the dirt road (with a bar) that heads in the direction of the Sanagra valley furrow. After a few minutes on the road and having reached the vicinity of a plantation pine forest, take the left turnoff that continues in view of a cottage and a clearing. Pass the cottage, leaving it on the right, and take the path that climbs to the Galbiati tower (25 minutes).
2. Returning to the dirt road and ignoring the first turn, we continue straight for a few dozen meters where the pine forest ends, here we turn left again entering a chestnut forest that allows us to reach the "Belvedere" (40 minutes): an enchanting place from which you can admire the impassable valley furrow of the Sanagra and the Villa Bagatti Valsecchi.
3. From the Belvedere, we descend back to the chestnut forest by taking a path to the right that leads, first to a fountain, then to a bench with a view of the villa, and finally to the beautiful Tobi Bridge (so far 1 hour) and to the picturesque waterfalls.

Tobi's Bridge offers three alternative possibilities:

• the first requires crossing the bridge and then climbing up to the historic center of Cardano (1 hour 25 minutes),
• the second turn, on the left just before the bridge, descends in the direction of a second metal bridge leading to the ancient furnaces (loc. Forno) unfortunately dangerous (1 hour 15 minutes). Ignoring the left turn to the bridge leading to the kilns, one enters the Sanagra gorge; unfortunately, this suggestive section is not completely safe and equipped.
• the third alternative is a path that you take to the right before reaching the Tobi Bridge, this path leads to a tunnel carved into the rock that allows you to observe the most beautiful waterfall of the Sanagra; unfortunately, the path is not totally protected.

Possible loop: go over the Tobi Bridge and climb along the cobbled path; once the ascent is over, the path intersects a dirt track that follows parallel to the fenced garden of a villa; turn right reaching the historic center and the church of Cardano. Go down from the church taking the paved road and opt for the first street on the right (Via Vittorio Veneto) in front of a beautiful wash house. You ascend from this street and follow the route backwards.
