Route of the Calchere and Orridi

The road starts at theoratory of St. Roch, in the upper part of the hamlet Naggio.
The trail continues down the side of the valley and, after about half an hour's walk, the first Calchere, places used for lime production, are reached; about fifteen have currently been identified in Val Sanagra.

Also encountered in the vicinity of these small artisanal blast furnaces is a large amount of limestone rock, the raw material processed there.
Reaching the bottom of the valley, you reach Madri Bridge, a convenient crossing of the Sanagra stream. Following the colored signs indicating the path, a short distance away you reach the locality Mount of Mothers, plateau characterized by the presence of numerous buildings, mostly huts for cattle breeding.

Here, in a hidden small valley but not far from the fields, one of the best-preserved calchere is encountered, overlooking a small stream tributary of the Sanagra.
From Madri you can take another path that heads into the lower valley, in the direction of Chioderia. Along the way, you will encounter more limestone and, about a half-hour's walk away, the Sass Corbèe, a group of giant monoliths lying in the center of the valley, forming a small ravine with an evocative atmosphere.
