The itinerary touches all the hamlets of Grandola ed Uniti, small towns around whose squares are ancient and majestic manor houses, beautiful churches and charming wash houses.
The first stage is the fraction Cardano, a place where time seems to stand still.
Here is the beautiful Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, of eighteenth-century construction; nearby one encounters the Church of St. Catherine with fine examples of neoclassical art inside; the washhouse is among the largest in Grandola and Uniti and features a tempietto roof.
The second fraction is Gonte, tiny cluster of old houses developed around the small square where the small oratory of St. John the Baptist.
Going up the old cobbled road, you reach Codogna, characterized by the large villas Cerletti Courts and especially Villa Camozzi, the seat of the municipal administration, the Val Sanagra Museum and of theEcomuseum.
Halfway between the Villa and the next hamlet, Velzo, there is the main church in the village, SS. Syrus and Margaret, from whose location you can enjoy a breathtaking view.
Naggio is the highest hamlet: its fountains are very interesting, especially the one in the Main Square, as well as the Churches of S. Anthony Abbot e of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Distant of the other hamlets, Grona develops on the other side of the Menaggio Valley.
Surrounded by fields and woods, the village revolves around the church of St. Gotthard, surrounded by ancient wash houses and typical little chapels.
