The route travels along one of the few remaining intact stretches of the ancient Regina, a Roman road from the Augustan period that was once the only link with the Alpine passes and northern Europe.
The start is at the Artüs Chapel, an important center of local devotion recently renovated.
The place is easily reached via the convenient road that is taken in the locality of Piamuro.
After a short descent, a beautiful bridge of very ancient construction, probably already from Roman times, is encountered to cross the Sanagra stream.
The bridge is located next to the Valley Mill, one of several paleo-industrial production centers in the Sanagra Valley.
The road continues and, as it climbs, a short series of hairpin bends is encountered.
At the end of the ascent you reach the hamlet of Codogna where, in the vicinity of the Val Sanagra Museum, one can observe the ancient tower of signal from medieval times, once part of an important fortress that dominated the valley and the Regina road.
