Description

La Cesena, a bird belonging to the Turdidae family, is a species of migratory blackbird distinguished by its robust appearance and social behavior. The blackbird is medium to large in size, with a length of about 27-29 cm and a wingspan of about 45-50 cm. Its weight ranges from 80 to 120 grams.

The plumage of the wasp wasp is characterized by a grayish-brown upper part, with lighter shades on the flanks and breast, while the belly is white with dark spots, particularly evident on the flanks. The head and upper body are brownish-gray, while the chest is lighter with small black or brown spots. The legs are orange in color, and the bill is yellow-orange, typical of thrushes. The hornbill also has a distinctive clear periocular ring, which distinguishes it from other species of thrushes.

This bird is a migrant, moving during winter from the northernmost areas of Europe, particularly Scandinavia and Russia, to the south, including Italy and other Mediterranean regions. The waspbird prefers open habitats such as woods, countryside, gardens and farmland, where it feeds mainly on fruits, berries, seeds and invertebrates.

In spring and summer, the wasp is usually solitary or in small groups, while in winter it forms large flocks that may migrate together to search for food. Its voice is characterized by a melodious song, which is emitted especially during the nesting season.

Reproduction generally occurs in spring, with the female laying 4-6 eggs in a well-hidden nest in the vegetation. After about 12 to 14 days, the eggs hatch and the young are fed by both parents until they are ready to fly.
